My story started 12 years before I was born. My parents were unable to have children. God gave my mom the promise that He would give her the desire of her heart. Later He promised to "make the barren woman to keep house and be a joyful mother of children. " (Psalm 113:9) Even later still, He sent a messenger from Heaven to tell her to name me Amos which means bearer of burdens.
Finally after 11 years, mom was pregnant. But 30 weeks into the pregnancy, she went into labor. I arrived, weighing 3 lb. 3 oz. The doctor said I should have weighed about 2 pounds or less. My heart had a hole that wouldn't close and I had a hernia. But after two different surgeries was scheduled, God healed me. I went home 10 days before my due date.
When I was 15 months old, my mom found me not breathing in the middle of the night. I also had a very high temperature. She grabbed me from my crib and ran to her room with me and I took a breath and started crying. The doctor said she snatched me back from SIDS. When I was 3, I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. When I was nine the doctor said I had "outgrown" it. I am now nearing my 20th birthday and I am 6'4" tall and weigh 198 pounds. All the things the doctor said would be wrong with me have never happened. I had some problems with reading at school but it didn't stop me from graduating.
I give God all the glory for my life and hope that my story will be encouragement and inspiration to others who have had premature babies.
